Staff
at Comfort & Fit have had training in various health
related fields including nursing and occupational therapy.
We also have a certified pedorthist who trained in
the United States. A pedorthist specialises in the
design, manufacture, modification and fit of footwear,
to alleviate foot problems caused by disease, overuse
or injury.
Many clients are referred to us by podiatrists, orthopaedic surgeons,
rheumatologists, rehabilitation surgeons, physiotherapist, occupational
therapists, nurses, and by word of mouth. We are well respected
by health
professionals.
Our staff participate In continuing education to ensure that we
can assist our clients with the most up to date information and
technology. We are educated in common foot conditions and complaints
such as plantar
fasciitis, metatarsalgia, bunions, hammer toes, diabetic foot problems,
amputations etc. We are able to recommend the most suitable footwear
for your condition and any modifications that may be required.
Some modifications that we are able to carry out include:
Velcro conversions.
Resoling and reheeling.
Stretching over bunion area.
Application of a build up (this requires a referral so that we know the
exact leg length difference).
We can also recommend other more complex modifications to gain
optimal comfort and fit.
When you come to visit us we measure both of your feet, assess
the shape of your feet, observe how you walk, assess the shape
of your orthotic (if you have one) and assess the general appearance
and condition of your feet.
We then fit you in the most suitable shoe to accommodate your special
needs.
Our previous training, continuing education and experience with
people having a variety of health conditions is our biggest asset.
Because of this we have a greater understanding of your problems
and your needs. We encourage and support the "teamwork approach".
We look forward to being of service to you.
